Thoughts On Bare Escentuals READY Eyeshadow & a EOTD

I recently bought the new READY eyeshadow duo in

'The Top Shelf' and I really love it! The shadows

themselves feel so buttery, very similar to Urban

Decay's better eyeshadows. The colors in this duo

are very complimentary for blue eyes, however

the darker shade can be nearly metallic looking

on the eye, so if you're looking for an everyday

eye shadow look, be careful to use it sparingly.

Phew! Long palette name, but I recently got this for christmas and have become inspired to take up blogging again. I hope others with this palette will like my looks using it as there seems to be very little elsewhere.

Make Up Fixes

I always hated buying a product, trying it out

and finding I couldn't think of any way to use it.

Perhaps the classic example is an eyeshadow

that has almost no pigmentation, and glitter so

fine that it's not noticeable at all!

One of these eyeshadows if definitely 'Goddess'

by Urban Decay. Having bought the UD Book

of Shadows Vol. I,

This shade was definitely the

biggest disappointment to me!

But, after experimenting today with my

gel liners from Physicians Formula

(I bought the pack for blue eyes)

I discovered a way to utilize this eye

shadow that I thought I could

share with you all!

Using the blue liner as a base,

I patted this eye shadow on top of

it and WOW! The color and

sparkles showed up like

never before! It made it so much

more vibrant.

It's hard to tell from the crappy picture,

but at least you can see the fine

blue glitters in this eye shadow.

Just thought i'd share this with

everyone else who was perplexed

as to how to use this shade!

Pop Of Color For Blue Eyes / Work Hair!

I love purple and blue eye shadow! Unfortunately

they usually don't seem to complement blue eyes

the best, so when I experimented a bit today and

saw how much it made my eyes pop, I thought

I should share it with the rest of you!

Eyes: I kept the upper lid quite bare

only using mascara (CG Lash Blast)

and a hint of black liner, tight lined

only on the outer 1/2 of the lid.

The bottom is where I chose to do

the *POP* of color.

Using a blue gel eyeliner

(Physician's Formula, Blue Eyes

Trio in the blue shade)

I lined the lower lash line and inside

the water line, winging it out just a

bit by extending the natural line

of my eye by just a little bit.

Using a purple/blue eyeshadow

(Mayhem by Urban Decay) I

patted the color over the blue gel

liner. Using a little bit of a pale

white color (Sellout by Urban Decay)

I finished the look by hi lighting the

inner corner.

The finished product!

Lips:

Because I used such a bold color

on the eye, I just used a bright

pink lipgloss on the lips

(MAC Totally It)

It leans slightly blue :)

And the finished look!

Oddly though, it seems Blogger washes

out almost all my pictures, does anyone

know how to get around that?

P.S. I couldn't resist showing how I do

my hair for casual/work days!

Keeps my long hair out of my face

but still looks super-feminine.

Super easy too! Just do a bun, leaving

a bit of hair out of the bun, then wrapping

it around the hair-tie and tucking it in

at the bottom of the bun :)

Make Up For Blue Eyes

This look is one of the most flattering I have done yet,

so I thought it only fair to share with all

who wish to enhance their blue eyes. The

makeup is also great for a daytime date,

as it is more natural. (Having many guy friends,

I've learned that make up is alright, but they

prefer a more natural look as opposed to

'I just dunked my eyelids in a rainbow'-as fun as

those looks are, LOL!)

Products needed for this look:

Naked Palette (Urban Decay)
Walking on Eggshells Eyeshadow Trio
(Wet N' Wild)
Lash Blast Fusion (CG)
'Milk' Eyeshadow Pencil (NYX)
Brown Eyeliner (Tarte)

To start, I used 'Milk' as the eyeshadow base,

applying the peachy shade from the Eggshells

trio all over the lid. Then I applied the

creamy white shade on the inner corner and

blended it into the peach. Then I darkened the

outer corner of the lid with the

brown shade from the trio.

Using the Naked Palette, Sin was used to

further blend the peach and white shades

together. Smog was used in the crease and outer

corner to intensify the shadow there.

On the very outer corners I used Darkhorse

(Just a small line from the edge of the eye to

the outer start of the crease) and blended inward.

To finish the look, I used the brown eyeliner

to draw a medium-sized line, making it

thinner as I went nearer to the inner corner.

Two coats of the Lashblast and the eyes

are done!

The finished product!

To go with the eyes, I patted on a medium

pink lipstick to the lips, and topped it

off with a pearlescent pink lipgloss.

Review: Aussie Aussome Volume Shampoo, Conditioner

After hearing how horrible Herbal Essences is for your hair from
some friends of mine who work in a salon, I needed to
find a new brand to fall in love with. Smell is a big draw for me,
which is part of the reason I passed over Pantene, Dove, etc.
I feel like they all smell the same, so when I
looked at Aussie's fragrance notes it seemed worth a try!

Smell: Much more subtle than any of the Herbal Essences,

I can smell it very faintly when I get out of the shower, but

once my hair is dry it's hard to detect any scent.

Formula: My hair has a bit more volume to it, but i'm not sure

if that's due to no build up to weigh it down (part of the reason

why my friends discouraged use of it) Furthermore, it makes

my hair feel so light! Even the day after I shower, my hair still

looks clean and feels soft to the touch.

Packaging: Very utilitarian, I bought the bulk size of both (shown

above) and I think it will last me a long, long time. The pump is

also really handy because I know i'm getting about the same amount

of product each time I wash my hair without having to eyeball it.

Overall: I give this a B, it wasn't so amazing that it would become my

HG shampoo/conditioner. The scent could have better staying power,

but after using Herbal Essences for so long-I might be a bit biased.

Review: Liplicious Thanks A Latte Lip gloss in Vanilla Latte

Phew, that was the longest review title to date! However, as with

all my reviews i'll try to keep it short and quick,

and give you the basics.

Formula: This one is definitely thicker than the C.O. Bigelow

Lipshines for sure! However, with the extra thickness

comes more lasting power which is nice when you're

working on the floor for hours with little breaks to touch up

your make up! I also feel this doesn't necessarily make

my lips more conditioned, but keeps them protected

from getting dry. If that makes any sense to you guys!

Color: Little bit of sparkle, but not chunky glitter! I actually

really like the color, it's very, very subtle and makes my

lips just a little paler than their naturally pink-red color.

Smell: Exactly as it says! Working in a coffee place, I'm rather

familiar with the smell of various lattes and coffees, and I

wish they smelled this good. Maybe because they're not right

under my nose when I make them? Either way the smell is

really pleasant and that flavor isn't bad either, just a little sweet

but a little less so than the C.O. Bigelow's tend to have.

Overall: Although the packaging is a little embarrassing (shiny

purple banner!? C'mon Liplicious!) the color is nice,

the lipgloss is hydrating, and the color is beautiful!

Perfect to go over a nude lipcolor (I usually

pair it with my Viva Glam V) with a smokey

eye. I give it an A.

Review: C.O. Bigelow Ultra Mentha Lip Shine

Formula: Creamy, the menthol leaves

that nice cold feeling on your lips,

I much prefer this to Carmex as I

find other products like this tend to make

my lips drier than before I put them on.
This doesn't exactly act equally to a balm
but it doesn't make them dry either.

The lasting power isn't very good, maybe

one hour to an hour and half.

Color: There really isn't one! Just leaves

a patent shine to the lips, but no sparkle.

Smell: Minty, which is definitely a

plus, especially if you have a date and

want to make sure your breath is fresh!

The taste is also nice, but wears out after

about fifteen minutes, so if you lick your

lips as soon as you put it on you'll

definitely detect a sweetness, but

if you're like me and resist temptation

the taste just goes away.

Overall: I really like this lipgloss, but only
for what it is marketed as: a lip shine.
I find it non-drying and the staying power

could be much better. However, the smell is
nice, the taste is good, and the packaging

is simple and elegant! I give it a B-

Review: Liplicious 'Watermelon Sorbet' Lip Gloss

I got this lipgloss as a present from an ex,

and it's outlasted him, so I figured it deserved

a good review.

Formula: For a lipgloss, it's a bit

creamy, but not too thick. Strangely though,

for it's consistency, it's lasting power

leaves a bit to be desired. On me,

it lasts about an hour to an hour and a half.

However, it does feel very good on lips,

definitely not drying.

Color: So pretty! If you have similar

coloring as I do, you should find this gloss

particularly flattering, It gives a 'juicy' lips

look, while not being so sparkly

that it's inappropriate for work/school.

Pinkish, medium pigmentation, with a little

bit of a red undertone to it.

Smell: Very, very good!

Others have commented on the taste

of this product, and while I cannot detect

a taste, I don't mind, as the scent is very nice.

Not synthetic at all.

Overall: While the lasting power

isn't very good, especially considering

the consistency of the gloss, it has a very nice

color, smell, and leaves lips moisturized. I would

say, buy it on sale!

Start off by applying a white base

Blend well using index finger

Apply the Tarte Peach Shade on the center

Apply the Tarte Pink Shade on the crease

Apply UD, 'Scandal' to blend the peach and pink

Apply the Tarte yellow shade to the inner half

Apply Tarte Fawn to brow-bone and inner corners

(After applying base)
Line lower lash-line with UD 'Absinthe'

Using a make up wipe,
I cleaned the line to make it thin
and more precise

Apply mascara to upper lashes only

Voila! One eye done!

Top off with lipstick and you're good to go!
(Sad this picture washed out the colors so much :( )

Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick 'Born with It'

I've had this lipstick for a looong time, so I thought i'd do

a quick review since I mentioned the formula of this

in my last review for Rimmel's moisture lipstick.

So if you're curious about why I love it

so much, follow the jump!

Formula: This lipstick is super creamy in texture

and it feels really soft on the lips to where you don't

even need a lip balm under or on top! It lasts for about

2-3 hours so it's not super-long lasting, but the

consistency of it makes up for it.

Color: 'Born with It' is a very flattering shade

for paler skin tones. It's a slightly reddened pink

with a slightly pearly shimmer to it. Trust me when I say

it's a very flattering pink lipstick- it's not too pale

to where you look like a corpse, and gives a nice amount

of color to give the lips a flushed look that's appropriate

for church/work/or school.

Overall: I love, love, love this lipstick!

I cannot sing it's praises enough, and for the price

(mine was around $4) it serves up the moisture

Maybelline claims, as well as great pigmentation.

The only fault of this lipstick is the lasting power

(only 2-3 hours) but the formula is so great

I don't mind reapplying! :)

Rimmel 'Berry Queen' Moisture Renew

After buying this shade a few weeks ago, I thought

doing a review would be helpful, as there are very

few unsponsored reviews of drugstore products. :)

So if you're interested, follow the jump!

Formula: This lipstick isn't particularly moisturizing

despite the name. I would recommend

Maybelline's moisturizing lipstick instead if you're

looking for a creamy texture that stays.

'Berry Queen' stays for a few hours, and leaves

behind a little bit of stain, but not an obnoxious

amount, so the lasting power is great!

Color: For paler skinned girls it's a bit bold

unless one uses a light hand, so i'd recommend

it only for the fall/winter seasons. However,

paired with barely-there eyes, it's stunning!

It has a matte finish, so for girls with thin lips,

the combination of it being matte as well as

dark makes it somewhat unflattering.

Overall: I quite like this lipstick, however

keep in mind that it is not as moisturizing

as Rimmel claims- so invest in a good balm

to go under it! :)

How to transform a look from day to night/PERFECT cat eye

If you want to know what I used for both, read on!

The eyes are the same for both pictures here...

(I primarily used the Urban Decay BOS 2)

First, I swept on Scandal on the inner 1/3 of the eye

then, I used Sphinx on the outer 1/3. To blend

the two I used 'Scratch' deluxe e/s on the middle.

For the crease I used just a touch of 'Perversion'.

Then the hard part! Using MAC Bootblack

Liquid Liner, I carefully drew a thin line

along the upper lashline-trying to go as close to

the eye as I could. Then I thickened the line

as it neared the outer corners. The important part

is to not do the line all the way to the edge!

Stop just a little before, so the "flick" would be in

line with the curve of your lower lid. Once you

have the "flick" (it should be pointed

towards your outer eyebrow) connect the flick to the

outer edge of the lower eye lid. :) And you're

pretty much done!

The lips were the only main difference.

For the day look I used MAC's 'Dervish'

lip liner, then the Viva Glam V lip stick

and on top I used just a little clear lip gloss.

For the night look (close up below)

I used MAC's Pro Longwear Lipstain

Marker in 'Purposefully Red' then I used

C.O. Bigelow's Winter Cordials l/g in

'Vanilla Eggnog'-which is basically

a sparkly clear gloss-on top.

So for this one, I tried something a little new,

using an eyeliner as a base. And I also tried

cooler toned colors (grays) on the eyes.

I'm pretty pleased with the results, and hope

all reading will be as well.

Electric Blue Winged Liner

So, I finally did a look using the Kat Von D Liquid Eyeliner in

Rhi-Venge,which is an electric blue color. Other

than that I only used a champage e/s

[No-Name brand] on the entire lid

as well as a hi-liter [I used MAC Manilla

Paper e/s] for the inner corners.

**** A trick I found: To get more product

from the liquid liner, swirl the wand all around

the bottle, even as you're pulling it out.

You'll get just enough to do a full eye****

Recent Mini-Haul

So I went down to Sephora the other day and I got something from the recent Tokidoki for Sephora line and from the Kat Von D for Sephora line.

The first thing I bought was the Tokidoki Prisma Lipgloss in 'Pirate Monkey' it's a sheer lipgloss, but this one imparts a more rose-brown ish color. On my lips though, which are really pigmented, it created a darker rose color which was really pretty. It also has a yummy blueberry scent, but no flavor unfortunately. (I'm fond of good-tasting lipglosses, this one had no taste) The packaging-which is the main attraction for this collection-is very cute. I also liked the spatula applicator because it's unusual and it gave me the right amount of product for nice, shiny lips. The price was a little expensive ($15) but I didn't mind.

Overall: A-

The second item I bought was the autograph eye liner from Kat Von D in 'Rhi-venge', an electric blue. This liquid eyeliner is nice because the line you get with it is thinner than most, but the downside is the color is not as intense as it seems in the bottle. I had to go over the line twice to get a more vibrant color. The packaging is beautiful for this, the top feels very nice. The price is okay, ($16) but I prefer the MAC liquid liner.

Overall: B

That being said, I like both these products together and they definately scream summer to me!

I'll have a look using the two of these up soon!

C.O. Bigelow 'Winter Cordials' Lip Shine, and Review

So Bath&Body was having a sale on pretty much everything in the store, so I picked up the 'Winter Cordials' Lip gloss from C.O. Bigelow in 'Vanilla Cream Eggnog'.

Price:

Very good I think, for .5 oz. Originally the price is 7.50 USD, but it's almost always on sale for 5. I got it yesterday for 3.75 without tax. So I'd definitely say the price is reasonable.

Look:

Pretty cute, I wouldn't be embarrassed to pull it out of my purse in front of friends and family. Also gives the lips a pretty sheen to it with very small sparkles, very natural.

Feel:

It has a cooling effect on lips, because of the .25% of peppermint oil in it. And it's not sticky at all. Also very moisturizing.

Length:

It only lasts about an hour on, without eating or drinking. So if you want a long-lasting gloss I wouldn't suggest this one.

Overall:

Gives a pretty look to the lips, but not long lasting. For me it's no problem, but to others it might.
