As you all know I spend a lot of my weekends at my boyfriend's
house in Los Angeles. Recently, I've started keeping a little box of
some make up and toiletries there. (I'll probably do a separate
post of what's there soon!) My loved Milani Liquid Eye Liners
have become little stumps, so off to the boyfriend's place they
went and to replace them I bought these Rimmel liners.
I've been on a bit of a Rimmel kick lately, so when I spotted
these at Target I had to try them out. Especially because
they're actually cheaper than the Milani liners
(4.50 at my Target as opposed to the 7/8 for Milani) I was
hoping that these would perform just as well as my Milani
liners so that I could save a little $$$ on this part of my
make up stash! To see my thoughts on these follow the jump!
Packaging: I've mentioned how much I love Rimmel's packaging
in previous reviews so I won't gush too much, but just look!
The little flag, the crown! Love it. The caps of these liners fit
pretty well, but they're just standard plastic so I wouldn't let
these liners get tossed around too much as the caps seem
susceptible to breaking/cracking.
Formula/Wear: These are very creamy, and defiitely live up to
the 'kohl' part of their name. You're not going to get pinpoint
thinness of line with these liners, but they are fairly pigmented
and the colors here are comprable to my Milani black and brown
pencils. The only issue I have color-wise is that the brown does contain
gold microglitter which can be a bit irritating to the eyes if you use it in
the waterline. As far as being waterproof, these do hold up fine
if you run a little water over it and do not try to smudge it.
However, look what happens when I ran a dry cotton ball over
Definitely not comprable to Milani in terms of durability. I also
wore the black liner in my upper waterline for an EOTD I posted
recently (picture shown on the left) It stayed in place for about two
hours, but then it transferred slowly (but surely!) onto my lower waterline.
By the end of the night I noticed some black smudging on my lower
lash line from the liner. In short, this is not going to be a liner you
can wear in the waterline and expect it to last. In fact, I recommend
not using the black in the waterline because that smudging gave me
a very tired look by the end of the night.
If you plan to wear these on the lash line however, they do hold up
very nicely, and with a primer they last all day on me.
Overall: I do like the price tag of these liners. The packaging is decent
but cute for the price, and the wear of it on the actual lash line is
great! However, these kohls do smudge when used on the waterline
and in that respect they can't really 'dupe' my Milani liners.
I'd recommend this if you're just looking for a budget friendly
liner that you'll use in a very traditional way.
